In 2005 the Maxim 380 was selected as Cruising World Best New Catamaran under 40′. Designed by Alexander Simonis of Voyage fame and built in Durban, South Africa. BLUE SHADOWS has an attractive profile which is typical of a performance-oriented cruising catamaran. Across the stern is a robust dinghy davit system which houses the 10' Aluminum hull Dinghy & 25 Hp Outboard along with 2 paddle boards and kayak. Across the top is an impressive array of solar panels. A walkway gives easy access to the dinghy and has ample storage. The recent certified life raft is mounted beneath. The cockpit is protected with a hardtop and removable canvas enclosure. Seating w/table to port with helm to stbd. All lines lead to the cockpit for safe sail handling. Entering the companionway, you will find the well-appointed galley to port with settee and aft facing navigation station on the stbd side. Both hulls include single berths in each bow. Followed by large double berths. Heads are amidships with large double berths aft. Ample storage throughout. Engine access is under the aft beds. Engine space is well laid out, uncluttered with room to complete departure checks and maintenance with little effort. 
Seller Comment:  After we had previously viewed a dozen other yachts, our broker suggested that we view this Maxim 380. We had never considered or heard of the manufacturer, so we took some time to research and the more we learned, the more excited we became to see it in person. When the day came, we instantly knew Blue Shadows was the one for us. We were drawn to the durability and hardiness of the South African construction. The roomy interior space has accommodated our 6-Foot 3-Inch-tall captain and that is no small feat. The convenience to maintenance, including the engine compartments, not only provide easy access but also safety in rolling seas. As comes with owning any new-to-you yacht, we were intimidated by what we were going to need to learn, but the simplicity of the systems on board have made it manageable and, daresay, enjoyable. We love to cook, so the 4-burner stove was also a major selling point. The galley up has served wonderfully for great family meals and entertaining guests. One of our fondest memories on Blue Shadows was a Fourth of July celebration when we hosted 3 other cruising families for a barbecue while watching the spectacular fireworks show over the Bridge of Lions in Saint Augustine.
