This approach uses proven and reliable construction techniques, and Protector has had no hull failures since its first hull was produced in 1999. The rugged hull is surrounded by an inflatable Hypalon collar with seven baffled air chambers, this provides a suspension like effect, absorbing energy and reducing the feel of pounding into the waves. The Tauranga 38 is an extremely well equipped and upgraded 2015 Protector with the highly coveted wraparound aft seating arrangement. Being a 2015, she features Protector's newer style Hydro V hull design, extending the V keel the length of the hull and providing a far superior ride to her predecessors. In late 2020/early 2021, the Tauranga underwent a major refit costing nearly $200,000, making her one of the nicest Protectors on the water today.
