John Hodge

Captain John Hodge brings a lifetime of nautical experience and a genuine love of boating to his role at Massey Yacht Sales. A graduate of Maine Maritime Academy with a B.S. in Nautical Science, John holds a USCG Unlimited Tonnage Master license, a Dynamic Positioning Operator Certificate Unlimited, and ASA Certified Sailing Instructor credentials. After a long career as an unlimited tonnage captain aboard highly advanced vessels around the world, John now enjoys helping clients find the right boat for their needs, goals, and cruising dreams.

John’s connection to sailing began early. As a member of his college varsity sailing team, he raced yachts throughout the Northeast, building a foundation of seamanship and competitive sailing that continues today through his involvement with the Amelia Island Sailing Club. He also brings hands-on cruising experience, having spent several years exploring the Bahamas and Caribbean with his wife aboard their personal yacht, a classic Morgan 383.

For the past 20 years, John has shared his knowledge as a part-time sailing instructor with Windward Sailing School in Fernandina Beach, helping new and experienced sailors build confidence on the water. With deep experience on vessels large and small, he is uniquely qualified to guide clients through the buying or selling process with professionalism, practical insight, and a friendly, service-focused approach.
