Jeanneau has long set the benchmark for modern production boatbuilding, and the Sun Odyssey 36i is a standout example of why the brand continues to lead the field. The “i” signifies injection molding, an advanced process in which resin is driven under pressure into closed molds. Jeanneau applies this technique to the 36i’s balsa‑cored decks and several key structural elements, producing components that are lighter, stronger, and manufactured in a cleaner, more environmentally responsible setting.
Below the waterline, the hull is hand‑laid fiberglass built with two layers of vinylester resin for superior blister resistance. Bonded to it is Jeanneau’s proprietary internal fiberglass grid—its 3rd Generation Hull Structure—which is both glued and laminated in place. The result is a remarkably stiff, durable platform that feels solid under sail and inspires confidence in a seaway.
Of course, exceptional construction means little without an equally compelling design, and here the 36i shines. Naval architect Marc Lombard—renowned for his sleek, high‑performance offshore raceboats—crafted a hull and rig that deliver lively, responsive sailing without sacrificing comfort. The boat’s profile is unmistakably Sun Odyssey: a clean fractional rig, a graceful sheer, and a low, streamlined coach roof that together create a contemporary, performance‑oriented silhouette.
The Sun Odyssey 36i blends engineering discipline with modern French design flair, resulting in a racer/cruiser that looks sharp, sails beautifully, and showcases Jeanneau’s mastery of efficient, high‑quality production.
Designed by renowned naval architect Marc Lombard, the Sun Odyssey 36i is a spirited performer. Her modern hull form and generous sail plan deliver impressive speed and efficiency, getting you to your destination quickly and with confidence.
Step aboard and the first thing you’ll notice is the spacious, well‑protected cockpit. Beautiful teak seating, smart ergonomics, and a secure layout make it comfortable at anchor and reassuring underway. All running rigging is led aft through smooth‑running Harken blocks and organizers, making the boat easy to handle—even when the breeze freshens.
Below, the 36i feels bright and inviting. Large windows and hatches flood the salon with natural light, while the blonde‑and‑teak interior strikes a perfect balance between contemporary styling and classic warmth. The two‑cabin layout offers generous berths, excellent storage, and the ability to convert the main salon into an additional sleeping space. This version also includes a valuable bonus: a large storage compartment in the port quarter, aft of the shower—ideal for cruising gear, water toys, or provisions.
“Magic Carpet” is fully outfitted for the Bahamas and beyond—turnkey and ready for adventure.

It isn't often a used boat is in this condition. "Magic Carpet" is in fantastic condition, and ready to go sailing. These vessels are truly made to sail, and sail fast. They are performance oriented, and are exciting to sail.
Below deck the cabins and saloon are bright and airy . Her beam provides plenty of room for cooking, dining and sleeping. The berths are generous, and the head is roomy and has a separate shower area with a huge storage area just aft of the shower. The dining area is very comfortable and converts to a berth, if needed. The galley is also well laid out where prepare crew meals, or handle your entertaining refreshments. This is a very comfortable boat that has solid doors on the cabins, and a separate stall shower on a 36 ft boat!
This is a sailor's sailboat, and that's why I like "Magic Carpet"!
