Description

This 1981 Young 35 Sun Cutter is an excellent example of a classic bluewater full-keel double-ender, nearly identical to the Bob Perry-designed, Baba 35. Querencia, one of 150 hulls produced by the Young Sun shipyard in Taiwan, started life in the Great Lakes, and then was shipped to Florida and purchased by the current owner, a knowledgeable and retired airline pilot, in 1989. Over the years, she has had the best of care and a steady list of upgrades, mostly done by professional boat builders and skilled marine mechanics at the Renovators Shipyard in St. Petersburg. Following is a short list of just some of the upgrades that have been done to make this the best-looking and upgraded Young Sun 35 floating in the water today:

Accommodations
The blemish-free varnished teak interior boasts all cabinet doors with teak grating; pleasing to the eye and excellent for ventilation. The original Teak and Holley floor belies its age and the pristine and durable wall coverings and headliners have all been professionally replaced and varnished teak bats, accent the ceiling along with varnished teak-trimmed deck hatches with screens and Sunbrella exterior covers. All 9 Opening Ports have been replaced with NewFound Metal SS Opening Ports with SS Screens, arguably, the best product available on the market today. Updated ceiling-mounted SS 12V Lighting fixtures are in every area, and some with optional red bulbs for night-vision. Wall-mounted Brass Chronometer, Barometer, and gimballed Oil Lamp complete the classic décor in the Salon.

The traditional layout features a large V-Berth with a filler cushion and spacious storage along each side, and a bank of drawers and a hanging locker aft to Starboard in the Passageway, opposite the door to the Head. The Head has a late model Raritan Toilet, vanity, sink, storage below and above the vanity, a recessed shower, and a teak grate flooring with a 12V Shower Sump System.

The Salon features like-new luxurious upholstery, a two-leaf teak dinette table with U-Shaped seating, a 6+ ft. settee to starboard, cabinetry storage and shelves outboard, as well as additional hinged dry storage behind the Dinette and Settee Backrests. Water Tanks are located below the Settees on each side.

Aft of the starboard settee is a forward-facing Nav Station, with cabinetry above, two VHF radios, a color MFD Chartplotter, and the upgraded AC & DC Electrical Panel is outboard, including the 1,000W Inverter. Further aft, doubling as the Nav Table seat is the double Quarterberth, unusually wide and deep, with a 12V Hella Fan, storage cabinets above and outboard. Two Teak Access Panels inboard, provide excellent and convenient access to the Engine, battery charger, hot water heater and other equipment in the engine space.

Opposite to Port is the U-Shaped Galley, with deep double SS sinks, 2-Burner SS gimballed Propane stove and oven, outboard and aft storage cabinets with sliding doors, and approximately 10 Cu. Ft. of top & front-loading Refrigeration & Freezer with a digitally-controlled 12V Holding Plate System. The removable teak stairs over the teak insulated Engine Cover begin above a fixed teak storage box serving as the first step, leading to the Companionway; which has twin hinged teak doors, optional custom solid Bluewater Starboard Hatch-Boards for going to sea, and a teak-framed screen door, stored on a shelf in the V-Berth and visible in the V-Berth port side photos.
