Description

This beautiful Ocean Yachts 48 Sportfisher is now available for consideration.  Two successive dedicated owners have put this vessel in like new condition with extensive upgrades and refit.

“After taking a close look at an Ocean 48 Super Sport, it’s easy to understand why more than 400 were built.  The longevity of her appeal is derived from her one-two punch of sleek looks—both inside and out—and sound performance.”  (From: Power & Motor Yacht, April 2021)

“Ocean strived to build yachts that were efficient to run and maintain. Customers could afford to fix anything on a 6-71, we built upscale yachts with an owner/operator mentality,” says Leek, referring the company’s overall mission.  “When the 48SS was introduced, Ocean was ahead of its time as far as amenities,” continues Leek. “The 48-footer had a custom-boat look and the teak added to the appeal for the hardcore fisherman. The families, spouses in particular, approved of the interior.” (Jack Leek founder of Ocean Yachts)

This vessel is built to fish, but is also a joy for spouses, friends and family to stay aboard, or be entertained.  She is spacious, comfortable, and now sports a beautiful updated interior. If you are in the market for impeccably maintained vessel that is truly “Ready To Go” and gets you to the blue water more efficiently than other vessels of its class, you owe it to yourself to schedule a showing of Sweet Virginia Breeze!

Key Features

Efficient-Thoughtful Design

“The original 48 was an adaptation of the popular 46 Super Sport” says John Leek IV, Ocean’s General Manager.  “We learned a lot from those owners.  The 46SS offered a two and three stateroom layout and the 48 improved upon that with greater interior volume and a more contemporary style”

The Ocean Yacht Company recognized in this design that often vessels of this size and value are partnership of sorts between pure fishing machine and weekend cruiser, thus you have all the features needed for the captain and mates to chase the bill fish, while the interior accommodations have strong appeal to spouses, young family members and friends who may be aboard simply for the pleasure of the getaway.

Accommodations

Main Cabin

As you board the vessel and enter the main cabin you are greeted by an attractive and very comfortable main salon.  To port the large L-shaped seating arrangement is both comfortable to stretch out and relax on, or absorb the group members especially during cocktail hour.  Windows to aft and to port are large, letting in great light, yet tinted to hold abate the heat and providing lovely waterfront views for the relaxed observer.  In the evening or if the sun is too strong, the retracting blinds offer privacy and a further cooling feature.  To starboard, you have beautifully finished storage cabinets, and wet sink, and below this a wine cooler handy for your favorite vintage year and label.  A comfortable U-shaped swivel chair invites one to sit and engage with others in the cabin.  Just forward of this to starboard is a comfortable curved tabled seating area, where more guests can be accommodated or fine fare can be served up from the galley.  Again large windows to starboard bath the interior with light and farther forward is the entertainment center, convenient to those seated aft who are ready to see the game or a good movie.

Galley

Moving again to port, the large u-shaped galley offers incredible counter space to display hors d’oeuvres or a full meal for the hungry crew prepared on the hide-away Force 10 cooktop and galley sink, featuring a Moen faucet with extension hose.  Under your feet, whether shoes or bare, is a beautiful teak and holly cabin sole that speaks to a long nautical yachting tradition. Cabinetry over the counter is spacious and consists of 2 double cabinets over 3 single cabinets with lighting.  The aft counter has a double Virtrifrigo fridge and separately a combination fridge-freezer, provide lots of room for food and beverage storage while underway or dockside. There is also an under counter double cabinet along the port side of the galley. Throughout the main cabin is a plentiful amount of LED lighting that is dimmable.

Moving forward beyond the galley-dining area is a hallway leading to the three staterooms and two heads.  As you pass down this passage you find additional storage cabinets and a raised shelf.  This area features the climate controls and vessel’s EPIRB. There is also a stackable washer-dryer hidden away to starboard.

Staterooms

As you move up the passageway after descending the steps, to starboard is the smaller of the three staterooms that features an area ample for dressing undressing, storage of gear and an East-West double berth with reading lights.

Just across the passageway to Port is what can be used as the owners cabin.  it is both cozy and intimate, yet ample is its accommodations.  There is beautiful cabinetry as found throughout the vessel, ample mirrors (new) and a queen size North-South pullman style berth.  The cabin features an ensuite head, that has also been upgraded by the current owners with new wallpaper, mirrored ceiling and heads (as with the rest of stateroom area)

The forward most stateroom features and centerline queen bed accessible from both sides, upper cabinetry both port and starboard, under bed storage of the aft end of the bed and warm intimate lighting.

Hull & Deck

Key to a fine sport-fisher is the design of the topside and fly-bridge to make the days of fishing both enjoyable & safe.  Sweet Virginia Breeze features a large aft deck with room for the mate to bait and prep the rigs, as well as land those tuna, dorado and bill fish.  Her gunnels here are high enough to keep anglers safely aboard, and the tops wide enough for safe transit on and off the vessel and are adorned with beautiful teak making her owner proud.  There are 4 lazarette deck hatches which lead to spacious storage for bumpers and other gear.  Forward, and to port is a built-in cooler and sink and a stack of storage draws for fishing tackle. With access lids closed, it provides counter space of sorts, or a perch for observing the action on deck. To starboard of the cabin door is a live well.

The ladder to the flying bridge is athwartships and at a gradual angle. Up top is prepped for a canyon run or a cruise to the islands. Twin helm seats (recently professionally recovered) and side and forward settees handle the seating. The helm is placed forward, offering great sightlines, but it pushes the forward-facing settee a little close to the enclosure. A six-station rocket launcher hangs on the rail behind the helm. The fly-bridge also features a full enclosure to protect from spray and wind, and on a warm summer day, air conditioning, or heat on those cold mornings, is retained to keep the captain and crew quite comfortable topside.

This deck is also a wonderful place to relax and even entertain while dockside, offering a bird’s eye view of the anchorage or marina, and featuring a fridge to keep beverages and snacks cool. Open the large sections of Strataglass and any breeze moving through the area cools the occupants.
