The 50 Viking open's hull is constructed of FRP laminate, finished with gelcoat and paint above the water line.

The Viking 50 Open is built on the same hull as the Viking 50 Convertible which was one of Vikings most popular models;120 of them having been built. She is a very  capable  offshore  fishing machine while also offering luxurious accommodations below deck and on the command bridge-deck.  Up three steps from the 140 sq. ft. cockpit one steps onto the command bridge-deck with 3 helm seats and a plethora of seating and storage. Visibility is unimpeded in all directions. There is storage below the L shaped bench seating. The additional lockable rod storage in the deck head is a truly excellent use of space. Fully air conditioned with relatively new isinglass, your non fishing companions will be very comfortable watching the action. Cold drinks are readily available

DECK CONSTRUCTION

TYPE: Molded and cored FRP (fiber reinforced plastic) with white paint and non-skid surface. Percussion soundings indicated no areas of delamination.

 

COCKPIT:

Cored FRP with molded in nonskid, serviceable. Centerline aft cockpit hatch provided access to the aft bilge area.

Livewell to port, fish box centerline, small fish box with Eskimo ice dumping into it,  Livewell and fish box drain pumps.

 

DECK FITITNGS

BOW PULPIT (BOW RAIL): Welded aluminum bow rail

TOE RAILS: Molded FRP toe rails, part of deck layup.

VENTILATION: Three deck hatches forward, double duty as a cabin emergency exit. Two deck hatches in the hardtop, 

SCUPPERS: Decks drain overboard. Cockpit drains thru molded FRP cockpit scuppers, port and starboard aft corners leading to tops ides discharges, port and starboard aft.

MOORING CLEATS: Eight 12" stainless steel mooring cleats, thru bolted and have. Aluminum backing plates  in the chain locker area.

WINDLASS/GROUND TACKLE SYSTEM: Lewmar 12 volt vertical windlass, with deck controls forward and bridge deck remote.

Gypsy and caps tan.

lnstalled ground tackle is a 20 Kg polished stainless steel claw type, with reported 30' of 5/16" BB coil galvanized chain, securely shackled to approximately 300' (not measured) of 3/4" marine grade nylon rode with the bitter end attached inside of chain locker. There is also a safety retaining lanyard was. Fortress FX-55 anchor also located inside chain locker.

GRAB RAIL: Painted hand rails along sides of super structure and others at various locations on vessel. Appears adequate.

ANCHOR PLATFORM: Stainless steel anchor platform with bow roller. 

 

WATER AND HEAD SYSTEMS

 The vessel was equipped with two electric flush head by Sealand Vacuum flush, and were both found to be operable. Raw water supply is the vessel's fresh water system. Waste is directed to a FRP waste tank located starboard amidships, and on to a deck pump out plate located starboard forward side deck,  There are also equipped with 3 below the water line discharge seacocks, one each for each head, and one for the macerated discharge, located forward bilge.  The Seacocks  are bronze,  Inline Y valve allows for waste direction to be changed.

SHOWERS: Separate stall showers in each head compartment, drainage is thru the sole to a shower sump collection tank, equipped with Rule 3700 bilge pump and float switch, operable.

FRESHWATER SYSTEM: The freshwater system is supplied from an integral FRP tank, located port amidships, with a capacity of 208 gallons.

Pressure is supplied by a D-BOOSTI 1100, 220 volt pump with Putter accumulator tank located starboard forward engine compartment.

There is also  a dock side water pressure regulator inlet located port forward cockpit.

Tank fill is located port side deck amidships, and was clearly labeled for WATER. 

Water lines were copper and plastic tubing, .

Pressure water at forward cockpit, bridge deck basin, tower washdown, galley, and both marine heads.

The vessel is also equipped with a 20 gallon water heater by Raritan, located port forward engine compartment. 

A Village Marine Tee watermaker is located  starboard forward and aft engine compartment.

 

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

RADAR: Furuno 72 nm radar with 6' open array hard top mounted, Navnet system,

AUTOHELM: Simrad Robertson AP22 autopilot, with control heads at bridge deck and tower

STEERING SYSTEM: Hydraulic, by SeaStar, (Teleflex) with one station at the bridge deck helm, and one station at the tower.
