Description

“Orion’ is a 2016 Catalina 445 Voyager Series with very low hours and use.  The voyager series was customized for living aboard comfort when cruising.  These boats have a flex cabin / third stateroom that includes the 5KW gen set, a second top loading refrigerator/ice box, a single berth, a service station for the Yanmar engine, excellent access for the gen set and more.  The Flex Cabin is accessed from the galley or through the cockpit locker on the port side.

The Catalina 445 is a very versatile design that incorporates contemporary styling.   The long waterline, moderate beam and freeboard all contribute to making the 445 an excellent performer.    The low-profile cabin structure, large cockpit and twin wheels all contribute to the aesthetics of this design.

The well-ventilated owner’s cabin is located forward along with a private head and separate shower area.  The guest cabin is aft and includes a large double berth with access to the second head on the starboard side.  The Flex Cabin is to port aft of the galley; this is a space that can be used as a third cabin, a work room, extra storage and has enough room to incorporate a washer & dryer, water maker icemaker, etc…  There is ample room to access the gen set and engine access, as well.

The galley area has lots and lots of storage potential for extended cruising that includes front and top loading refrigeration, cookware storage, large twin stainless steel sinks, a three burner stove top, oven, microwave, dry storage and more!

The salon incorporates two Flex steel reclining lounge chairs with a table between them.  The large U-shaped settee and dining table is to port; this table folds to cocktail size and also lowers to form an extra double berth with extra storage below the seating.   The forward facing nav station is to starboard and is large enough to incorporate a Laptop, with storage drawers below for manuals, etc..   Just aft of the nav station is the guest head with dual entrances from the salon, aft cabin or companionway stairs.

The L-shaped galley is to port of the companionway stairs and features a top loading freezer, a front loading refrigerator, dry storage, ample cabinet and drawer storage, a three burner stove top, gimballed oven and microwave.   The flex cabin entrance is just aft of the galley with a full-size access door.

Contruction:

The Catalina 445 incorporates Vinyl-ester resin below the waterline and end grain balsa core sandwich construction about the waterline which makes for a very strong, blister resistant hull.  The deck is constructed in one piece with an end grain balsa core sandwich and molded-in diamond non-skid pattern.  The one piece fiberglass deck liner is finished in a non-glare texture.  The loads of the engine, mast, rigging and hull is distributed through the one piece hull grid which makes for a boat with a lot of structural integrity.  The one piece hull liner is finished with a satin texture.  The lead keel is attached with 316 grade Stainless steel keel bolts.
