Description

Fortissimo is perhaps the finest example of the IC 37 class.

Built with class approved twin steering wheels, instead of the tiller, she provides helm and crew ergonomics not available with the tiller.  With a turn ratio set for instant response and minimal movement, she is able to react equally to the tiller version.  By not having to look down while stepping over the tiller when tacking or gybing, the helms-person can keep their eyes outside the boat, thus gaining tactical position, or responding to instant sea or wind changes.  The boat can be changed to a tiller version if desired.

Beautifully built by Fibre Mechanics in Lymington, England, which is one of the finest composite boat builders in the world.

Every class upgrade has been done to the boat to ensure ultimate class performance.

She has a second keel with a draft of 7′ for non class racing.  Custom designed by Mark Mills, this keel allows the boat to race in shallower water and also has potential rating benefits under certain rating rules.

Why chose an IC 37?

ABOUT THE IC37 CLASS

The Joy of Racing Reimagined

From the very beginning, the IC37 Class was developed to create a racing experience unlike any other. The boat itself is innovative and elegant in a thoughtfully simple way. One set of three sails for all conditions, a rig designed to trim and go, only essential instruments. And yet, remarkable performance in all conditions.

But the IC37 is more than just a new boat. It is an innovative amateur one-design class designed to race with a crew of family and friends. Men and women. Young and not so young. Sailors who race for the love and joy of the sport.

And all making possible what many sailors seek: the opportunity to test their preparation, skill, and teamwork on the most level playing field available. Which is why the IC37 is the boat of choice for the Rolex New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup and the Canada’s Cup.

The racing is fast, fun, furious — and most of all, joyful.

Broker's Comments:

Having raced in the IC 37 Class onboard Fortissimo, I can offer first hand knowledge of how much fun the class is to sail in.  The boats are unbelievably equal in performance.  The sails are the same, the boats are the same and it comes down to crew work and tactics, as to how well you do.  Having raced for decades on all types of boats, I have never found a more level playing field in yacht racing.

The IC 37 Class rules are posted on the class website: https://ic37class.org/rules/
